Mara Ponds Retreat

where to eat & stay
Tin Dragon Trail Cottages--links

Of course when driving towards Launceston we recommend you stop in Scottsdale for irresistible pastries at The Cottage Bakery, try out new rhubarb treats at House of Rhubarb and have a fabulous fresh coffee at Scottsdale Art Gallery Cafe. Try Tasmania's newest craft beer at Little Rivers Brewing Co opposite the Bakery. There’s a great selection of Tassie beers & wines at the Scottsdale Liquor Market in King St.

Then of course there’s all those remarkable cold-climate Tassie wines. Our favourite boutique cool climate wines are at Brook Eden Vineyard at Pipers Brook; and you can sample great local produce at the Lilydale Larder. So much to choose...

There are small local country markets, too. Just ask us!

How about catching your dinner? Try something different. Recent guests caught a fabulous salmon at Mountain Stream Fishery—They had fun catching it and really enjoyed their BBQ of fresh salmon and just-picked salad. Of course washed down with a chilled crisp Brook Eden Pinot Gris. Great day out! The guys at the fishery will prepare the fish for you, too. You only need to take an esky with ice.
